A child between the age of zero and five lives in a protective bubble. And that is a good thing because that little one needs to be surrounded by people that she trusts and that love her and will protect her at all costs. But even if that child has some siblings, those years are often relatively quiet and ones in which the majority of the people that child knows are primarily dedicated to one thing and that is satisfying all of her wants and needs.Obviously this is not the kind of world that child will eventually live in. To say that very young children are spoiled is stating the obvious but that is natural and the way it should be. It is the task of older childhood and adolescence to begin to reprogram your children to live in a world the rules of social behavior are far more complex. The first time your child will be exposed to that kind of environment other than an occasional hour in the nursery at church or at day care will happen when your little one begins kindergarten. There are a lot of surprises waiting for her there. But one that kindergarten teachers know is going to be a huge challenge is reprogramming those kids to the idea that everyone in that room is not all about them but that they are there to be part of a larger society. This will be quite confusing for your child and many days when she comes home unhappy or upset about what happened at school, the heart of the problem will be this orientation issue. So anything you can do before your child goes to kindergarten to help your little one to learn to socialize in a larger circle of people and in a setting that is more normalized than the one at home will serve your kiddo well when those school days get underway.Preschool is a great way to start that process early in life so much of that socialization is well underway before kindergarten days arrive. But if that is not an option or there are good reasons not to go the preschool route, you can find situations of socialization in which you can have your child in a group of many other children her age where there are some rules and the children have to learn to get along.Even if you do not work, day care has some value in this area. You may wish to begin leaving your child at day care for an hour every other day starting around the age of 3-4 just to give her some time with others her age to learn how to behave in groups. This is a good approach because even if there are problems, you are right back and able to take her home and talk through what happened to help her make adjustments. And if she doesn

A pregnant woman who has been diagnosed with gestational diabetes is going to receive a lot of medical support in the form of frequent doctor appointments and nutritional counseling. But she may also be in the need of emotional support. It is hard to change the way you eat and live your life when you are pregnant and adjusting to a new disease in addition to that can be overwhelming. There are many forms of support you can seek out. The support from your spouse or partner is going to be very important. They cannot be eating an ice cream sundae in front of you while you are expected to abstain. Since eating like a diabetic is a healthy lifestyle change, you both should follow the diet set forth for you keeping in mind the extra caloric needs of different people.Joining a group of pregnant women is helpful too. You can go through your pregnancies together and when your babies are born you can continue with your support network as your children grow up together. Touch base with your endocrinologist to see if they know of a support group specifically for women with gestational diabetes. You can share recipe tips and provide the emotional support needed as you ride the roller coaster of pregnancy with diabetes. There are many online support groups too with a specialization in many different complications that can arise in pregnancy. Or join a support group for woman online whose babies are due at the same time as yours. You may even meet someone online that lives in your neighborhood.Don

Prenatal vitamins are one of the most important vitamins that you take through out your pregnancy. Ideally, you should start taking prenatal vitamins when you are trying to conceive a baby. By taking prenatal while you are trying to conceive, you are preparing your body for the challenging task that lies ahead. Some experts believe that taking prenatal before you are pregnant might actually reduce your risk of a miscarriage after you become pregnant. Taking prenatal before pregnancy is not always possible for some people, but taking them during pregnancy is essential. Prenatal vitamins contain one of the most important nutrients that a new mother needs and that are folic acid or folate. By taking in extra folic acid, you lower your chances of your baby being born with an incomplete spinal column which is known as spina bifida. In order for your baby to be protected, it is imperative that folic acid is taken in the first four weeks of fetal development. This can be a problem for women who do not take prenatals before they are pregnant. Most of the time, most women do not know they are pregnant until after they missed their period which is about two weeks after conception. This is why if you are of child bearing age, you should make it a habit of taking folic acid even if you are not planning to become pregnant and we all know that not all pregnancies are planned. You can still get your folic acid in food. Folic acid is added to many breads and pastas and is found in dark green and orange fruits as well as vegetables. Keep in mind though that taking a daily supplement of folic acid offers more protection from spina bifida then eating the same amount of folic acid in food. While you are pregnant you should aim to take at least 600mcg of folic acid a day. If you have had a baby with a neural tube defect, you will have to take 4000 mcg or 4 milligrams of folic acid every day, starting at least a month before you get pregnant. Some women report that they can not take their prenatals especially in their first trimester. Women who suffer from morning sickness and food aversions find that they can not eat much food. Taking a prenatal on an empty stomach can leave you feeling sick and queasy which is why so many women in the first trimester do not take them. Another reason some women report upset stomachs is due to the high iron level that some prenatals have. Not only could this cause an upset stomach, this can also lead to constipation which can already be a problem for some pregnant women. If you find that you can not take your prenatal, talk to your doctor to see if he can give you a prenatal with less iron or give you a folic acid supplement also. The worst thing you could do is not take anything, especially during those first few weeks.

Relationships include all living things, including self. We live in a world that we always engage in relationships, which most times lead to major chaos none of us need. This is because most people have not established a relationship with self before involving themselves in relationships with others. We must learn to establish a relationship with self; otherwise all other relationships we create will have an uphill ride throughout our lives. Above all other things we must establish a love for self, which makes it easier for us to love others. Therefore, we must challenge our conscious and subconscious mind to discover disapproval we have of self and remove it from our thinking. When you disapprove of you whether knowingly or not, you will also disapprove of others in the same structure. Therefore, begin your journey to develop self-regulation skills by using your private speech, commonly known as self-talk. As human beings we battle loneliness, doubt, fear, and other negative responses that develop from our experiences, observations, knowledge and all past influences that we came into contact with. We must work effortlessly to abandon these negative energies and responses so that we can move to love self. Here is what you must do: Avoid fearing problems; rather face the problems head on. You want to avoid thinking that no problem you face can be corrected. Moreover, you must take action when problems arises rather than harden your heart. Instead of adding to the problem, find ways to resolve the problem by talking it through with you. Try to avoid reversing the problem; rather work through each problem that you face. Take the challenge to profit and realize that problems no matter how big or small have answers. You want to avoid playing mind games with self and others so that you develop an honest platform for developing you also. When you build a solid fortitude it often helps you to go through the processes of self-development and establishing a relationship with you easier.Today we have many choices in self-development options. Now you can go online and visit the Internet to discover various new age alternatives in self-healing, self-talk, private speech and more. The main point of private speech and self-regulation is to guide you to rely on your self and instead of reacting on emotions; you are encouraged to build self-resistance. You have many ways to accomplish this task. First, you can consider meditation. Meditation can be performed in many ways, which you can include private speech to help you discover answers and find your self-regulator so that you can accomplish any goal you set your mind to. In fact, you can use meditation to build positive thinking. A positive thinker can master almost any damn thing they put their mind to, so get in on self-development today. Another alternative is yoga. Yoga will teach you to meditate effectively, use self-talk, and build self-regulation. You will gain control of your mind and body, which is the ultimate stage of self-development. Yoga has several levels to help you with self-development so take some time to learn the best steps that work for you.You can learn some guided relaxation tactics also to help you with meditation. Go online to look for the latest articles that can help you master relaxation, which is one of the harder steps you will need to master to work through private speech, self-regulation and self-development. Take some time to learn about how emotions affect you as well. When you understand the problems you often find it easier to relax and open up to movement. Movement is necessary if you intend to make your life better. Thus you must put forth effort. Remember you have to build a strong relationship with you.

Sleep Apnea is a serious sleep disorder that can be life threatening and at times fatal. People with sleep apnea often fall asleep normally; however, once asleep their ability to breathe is blocked. Usually this inability to breathe is caused by the muscles in the throat relaxing too much and collapsing into the airway. The body then sends a signal to the brain that breathing has temporarily been blocked. This causes the person to wake up and start breathing again. The cycle of interrupted breathing can occur many times throughout the night. These episodes can occur up to 50 times an hour and last for ten seconds or longer. Often the person that suffers from this sleep disorder is unaware that anything is happening to them. They can not understand why they always feel tired during the daytime. The most common form of this sleep disorder is obstructive sleep apnea, known as OSA. Some sufferers of obstructive sleep apnea also suffer from cental sleep apnea. This sleep disorder is then called mixed sleep apnea. It is believed that obstructive sleep apnea affects between 18 - 20% of the adults in the United States. If this sleep disorder is left untreated in can become life threatening and in rare cases fatal. It is the underlaying cause of illnesses such as heart disease, stroke, pulmonary hypertension and systemic hypertension. There are several method of treatments for sleep apnea, both surgical and noninvasive. The first line of therapy for someone suffering from moderate to severe sleep apnea is called positive airway pressure. Known as PAP, positive airway pressure is a noninvasive form of treatment. A machine delivers a constant flow of air through a mask that is worn while sleeping. The force of the air flow must be determined by a sleep technician during an overnight sleep study. There are three types of positive air pressure therapy, CPAP, BiPAP and AutoPAP.Dental devices are also used to treat this sleep disorder in mild to moderate cases. Dental devices fall into two general categories: mandibular, or lower jaw, advancing devices or tongue retaining devices. Mandibular devices are used most often. They attach to the upper jaw and pull the lower jaw and base of the tongue forward. This shift in position keeps the airway open.Medications are generally not a successful form of treatment for most people with sleep apnea. However, many of them do take antidepressants and mondafinal. Supplemental oxygen is often used in conjunction with a PAP machine. Oxygen alone can not prevent the collapse of the airway or sleep fragmentation. However, oxygen can prevent the drop in the level of blood oxygen that occurs when the airway collapses. There are also surgical treatments for obstructive sleep apnea that may be an option for some sufferers of this sleep disorder. These include uvulopalatophrayngoplasty, somnoplasty, corrective jaw surgery, palatal implants and tracheostomy.People with this sleep disorder generally find that their quality of life can improve with the proper treatment.

-Private Voice- a powerful instrument in self-regulationSelf-regulation means development of the self of an individual by exercising self-control and modifying the self of an individual. One must be open to changes and must adapt to the changes in the environment of the individual. Self of the individual is the guide and philosopher and watch the every close movement and are its silent observer at times. Self-regulation is very necessary and aids in the building of a child. Private speech is the method of talking aloud, giving voice to the hidden and the real emotions of the people. Words and speech since times of yore have been given emphasis. Words have force and might so one must be careful of his or her speech as it has the power of hurting others. The words once said cannot be taken back, so an individual must always be careful of what he says. If the private speech of an individual is in effective the chances of its marring the self-regulation is very high. If the private speech of the child is irrelevant, the chances of the child progressing are negligible; they hardly engage themselves in the goal-oriented tasks and are a complete nuisance for the class. Their social skills are shoddily affected. Inner voice aids in the development of the self as it enables an individual to realize the true and the real self and uniting with the self. Inner voice enables an individual to realize the hidden potential and the inherent capabilities of an individual. Private speech is the verbal expression of our desires and pent up emotions. Thinking aloud, commonly known as private speech is necessary for our early learning and building of our character. While we are children, the private speech is personalized, but as we grow this private speech takes the shape of the communication with other people. The importance of private speech cannot be sidelined as even when we grow up at times we feel the need of communicating privately. For instances, when an individual is going through the bad phase or some demanding situation crops up it is necessary to interact and the there is resurfacing of the private speech. Private speech is the voice of our gestures and thought process. Private speech aids an individual to understanding of the self.Private speech aids in learning and it includes scheduling, scrutinizing and guiding our actions and gestures. The more we strain our brain; the better is its output. Learning through private speech includes four steps, namely learning by rote the words, which help in building your vocabulary. The other application is the ability to understand and dramatize poetry. The next being the capability of reading the texts loud and editing the papers. The last application is to try and reach out to some solution through a math problem. It is always better to pent out the within emotions for better self-regulation. As if an individual have some grudges and rancor, the development of the self would be hampered as then the negativity inculcates within. Private speech even at times can reduce our performance as we only give voice to what we experience for the first time and are puzzling or challenging and fail to give voice to what we already know. Private talking aids in the relieving the negative and downbeat thought of an individual. An individual must ensure that there are no excommunicated emotions or feelings for anybody. The person must be courageous enough to face the challenge and give voice to true self of the individual. This makes the self free from any guilt and helps in its building.

There are several studies that have dealt with the use of private speech in adults and its application to learning. These studies have used private speech to assist adults in improving their performance in several tasks. The term private speech is seldom used in reference to adults however and the term that is often preferred in self-talk or voice dialog. To understand this mechanism we must review the processes of using the simple elements. This process is the utilization of simple statements that can be used to control behavior and this may be through the guidance or even management of emotions of the individual. It has been seen that the use of this action as a form of therapy has been seen to positively affect performance. When people talk when they are doing a task there performance is enhanced. The words spoken can often be classified into some standard categories related to the type of thoughts that are verbalized. There are five main types of verbalizations that are observed in adults and that are believed to aid in the increase of performance. These include the use of repetition, answering your own questions, read to yourself, describing the activity and guiding yourself along and inaudible utterances. These vocalizations will be the ones that are most found in adult private speech. There are other types of vocalizations but those are found more in children rather than adults. You may use self-talk to benefit you in a variety of tasks and this also includes dealing with stress. The approach that is followed with self-talk can greatly aid in the alleviation of stress. This can provide a different approach to dealing with stress. Stress is dealt with in a more logical fashion rather than the typical emotional approach. You are able to focus your energy and deal with the root cause of the problem through logical thinking.Problems of low self-esteem can also be handled by the use of self-talk. You can learn about yourself and learn to like yourself as well. Self-talk can increase self-awareness. It can improve our outlook of ourselves and direct us to more positive action. Self-talk is one of the major ways that we can overcome nervousness and anxiety in stressful situations and remain grounded and logical.Self-talk can also work in improving the ways that we interact with others. It is often important that we are calm when we attempt to socialize. If we are unable to relax we will not attract bonding but in fact discourage it. This means that self-talk is an essential part of the equation towards the improvement of our social interactions as well. It is essential in life to be able to get along with people. If we are unable to accomplish this we will not be able to progress in life. We will not function at full capacity on the job or even in our personal interactions. It is essential that we learn to interact with others properly. All these reasons make self-talk a great tool. The ability of self-talk to adjust our way of thinking and provide us with a more logical approach to life is invaluable. We are able to perform better using self talk as a motivational tool as well as a learning tool. It is essential in our self-development that if we have never used self-talk or private speech that we do so today and start the road to a better way of thinking. You can visit the Internet to learn more about your gift, self-talk. The latest discussions are hitting this topic heavily today.

A preschool child takes his or her signals from people around them, and most of the times that is mom and dad. In almost every situation, the child watches you to see if this is a good time to laugh, to cry, to pray, to be serious or to be afraid. Just watch your little one when you are out in an unfamiliar situation. Her little eyes will be glued to you and when you react a certain way, she will immediately react that way too.So the influence you have on your child

This is probably by far one of the rarest forms of sleeping disorders around. This is an inherited disorder that has only been found in 28 families in the world that have the dominant gene for it. The offspring of a parent(s) of developing the disorder is about 50% and there is no cure for this. The age of onset is around the ages between 30 and 60 and the disorder’s time frame runs between 7 to 18 months. This disease has 4 stages that it goes through and 1st stage of the disease starts off with the sufferer dealing with increased insomnia leading to severe panic attacks, and various kinds of phobias, this stage lasts about 4 months, 2nd stage sufferer deals with hallucinations and panic attacks become more obvious and lasts about 5 months, 3rd stage Complete and total inability to sleep. And follows with drastic weight loss and lasts about 3 months, 4th stage Dementia sets in and progressively becoming irresponsive and mute over a course of 6 months and this is the final progression of the disease. This sounds a lot like Alzheimer’s because if you notice the time frame it’s a lot less shorter than the actual time span of someone who deals with Alzheimer’s because the sufferer is dealing with it for several years instead of a year where the disease progressively degenerates the mental capacity to such a degree that the sufferer has a hard time with memory. As far as treatment is concerned sleeping pills don’t have any effect for people suffering from Fatal Familial Insomnia and not even non-medicinal therapy doesn’t work either. Medical science has no idea why it’s a fatal disease and how they can create effective treatment options to combat this problem. And more effective genetic testing for diseases that are inherited to find out what can be done medicinally and therapeutically to deal with this sleeping disorder. It’s a matter of how much attention the medical world takes note of this and pushes the funding to finding a cure and effective genetic testing of families and tracking diseases through the generations to be able to have some kind of record of the disease passing down through generations or skipping generations which is what some diseases have done in some families for those who have a disposition for certain things. This doesn’t get nearly as much attention as all the other sleeping disorders because of it being rare, and only turning up in so many people and births making it not rare enough for it to get the recognition as regular insomnia and to qualify for the treatments. That are currently out there to help those 60 million people who are dealing with some kind of sleeping disorder(s).With the way medical science is going it will be a matter of time before medical science catches up and helps the many people who are looking for a cure of being deprived of a restful night’s sleep. The moment a cure is found is one more person who will be helped to have a good night’s rest.

Sleep apnea is the condition for where there are pauses in breathing during sleep. These are defined by medical terminology when an individual literally stops breathing. There are two types of apneas Central and Obstructive. This is a common problem among the morbidly obese which requires them to wear an oxygen mask so they can breathe since that’s due in part of their weight bearing down on their chest crushing their rib cage and lungs.According to medical reports the population at risk are obese middle-aged males since physiology doesn’t make women potential sufferers of sleep apnea. The problem is that people who do fall asleep due to sleep apnea will go through brief periods where people think they’re not going to wake up. Keep in mind that this is very serious because if it’s not properly diagnosed it can be life threatening. People with excessive weight usually morbidly obese constantly have to deal with frequent episodes of paused breathing. Snoring is a common problem with the morbidly obese and constant gasping for air while sleeping is another problem. Obstructive sleep apnea can be dangerous to the heart because it’s prolonging and deprivation of oxygen to keep the circulation flowing efficiently.Other symptoms that are deemed non-specific are headaches, irritability, moodiness, difficulty concentrating, Noctoria (getting up in the middle of the night to urinate), increased urination, decreased sexual drive, increased heart rate, anxiety, depression, esophageal reflux (acid reflux disease), and profuse heavy sweating at night.Sleep apnea has also been linked to congestive and congenital heart failure usually found in people who are diagnosed as morbidly obese because of the excessive weight on them. This is from severe and prolonged cases meaning the individual(s) were not being treated and had let the condition get to the point that it’s no longer treatable.Individuals born with Down’s Syndrome are likely to develop obstructive sleep apnea since 50% of the population that has this genetic condition are likely to be diagnosed because of having an enlarged head, adenoids, tonsils, tongue, and narrowing of the nasopharnyx. Pharyngeal flap surgery has also been noted to cause sleep apnea in patients because of the obstruction in the breathing pattern after surgery which if not monitored can be life threatening. There are different treatments for people with sleep apnea and doctors and ENT (Ear Nose and Throat) specialists take the following into consideration for designing a treatment plan for those who are diagnosed with this condition. The factors that are considered are an individual’s medical history, severity of the disorder, and the specific cause for the obstruction. Some treatments also incorporate a lifestyle change, avoiding alcohol and medications that can relax the nervous system.Other lifestyle changes is losing weight and quitting smoking, and incorporate things like elevating themselves while sleeping so that they can breathe using slanted pillows. The weight issue is the biggest lifestyle concern because that causes some people to be confined to beds where they can’t move and be active contributing further into a person’s weight gain. Usually if someone who’s morbidly obese and loses about 50 pounds within a couple months their condition improves, but it’s usually up to a steady support system to get someone on a set routine and healthy eating plan that helps to get their weight down so they can qualify for other treatments to help them maintain weight loss which is either through gastric bypass which has to be strongly enforced since this surgery is irreversible and you have to eat differently and undergo a major lifestyle change. The other option is lap band, which is reversible, but again to maintain the weight loss to improve sleep and breathing patterns comes with monitoring what one eats and exercise to help improve breathing patterns.

There are over 3 million cases of narcolepsy and is estimated by medical reports that 200,000 Americans, but just under 50,000 are actually officially diagnosed by a doctor. It has been said that it’s widespread like the neurological disease Parkinson’s disorder. This condition is usually recognized in both men and women at any age, yet the symptoms are usually first noticed in teenagers and younger age adults usually in their 20s and early 30s.It’s been noted that there is a 15-year between the onset and actual diagnosis of the problem, which has contributed to the debilitating features of this particular disorder. Those who deal with narcolepsy have a plethora of cognitive, educational, occupational, and psychological issues that can arise from this problem. The presence of narcolepsy is 1 in 2000 people and is also found in people with diagnosed learning disabilities and currently the treatment options are very limited. The studies that were conducted for this concluded that this problem is constantly under diagnosed in the general population in society. Some narcoleptics don’t show any signs visibly and the severity of the condition varies from person to person. This is where medical science has its blunders because of the fact that this condition is so under diagnosed that it’s hard to really get a grasp of the severity of this problem, because it varies in levels from noticeable to barely obvious. Polysonogram and Multiple Sleep Latency exams are the two tests that are done to give a formal and correct diagnostic approach to the condition and usually this is where the diagnosis presents the level of severity so that it’s properly noted by a specialist to ensure a proper treatment plan for that person. Tests are conducted in two-hour increments to allow the person to sleep and usually the polysonogram test does a continuous test of brain activity when it’s in REM sleep mode when sleep happens at night.Usually most narcoleptics fall asleep in nighttime sleep mode fairly quickly. There are several methods of treatments for people with narcolepsy and usually it consists of anti-depressants and planned short-timed naps have also been helpful to lower the dependence on medicinal treatments and allowing the body to do what it should be doing naturally. Retraining the body to sleep at a reasonable time has helped those with narcolepsy to recognize sleeping at night and taking short naps during the day so that their body stays alert because a lot of narcoleptics have been putting themselves and others at risk when they fall asleep during their normal work day or even driving or operating machinery. With the new wave of holistic medicine being readily available to help people with conditions from skin to psychological issues. Narcoleptics can also work with a treatment plan that includes a change in diet and incorporating exercise and taking nutritional supplements and formulas to give someone added nutrition if they’re not getting enough from the food they eat.Narcolepsy is manageable if you follow the doctor’s instructions and taking medications when you’re supposed to and following therapy plans that are designed for that person to follow to the last detail.

Most people don’t realize they oversleep when they have a condition called hypersomnia and that’s due in part to recurring episodes of excessive daytime sleeping and prolonged nighttime sleep. This is different from the average person taking that midday nap when they do it at sometimes the most inappropriate times like at work, during meals, or even in conversation with people.Hypersomniacs are also diagnosed with narcolepsy, which can be quite dangerous because some individuals are behind the wheel of cars or even cooking in their home and aren’t aware that they fell asleep. Some hypersomniacs and narcoleptics can fall asleep and then wake up and resume where they left off in conversations with people. Usually daytime naps usually provide no relief or symptoms to the problem(s) and will result in the individual(s) having increased difficulty in waking from a long extended period of sleeping, disorientation, anxiety, decreased energy, increased fatigue, restlessness, slow thinking, slow speech, loss of appetite, hallucinations, and problems with memory functions. Some individuals also experience losing the ability to function in normal family, social, occupational, and other settings familiar to that person.Hypersomnia can be triggered by sleep apnea or narcolepsy, where it can lead to dysfunction of the autonomic nerve system, which can be brought on, by acute alcohol and/or drug abuse. In some cases rare or not it can also be triggered from physical problems such as tumors, head trauma or injuries to the nervous system. Specific medications or withdrawal of medications and/or drugs may contribute to someone having hypersomnia. Medical conditions such as multiple sclerosis, depression, encephalitis, epilepsy, and obesity can contribute to hypersomnia as well. It’s also been noted that those who have hypersomnia are also genetically dispositioned to this problem whereas in others there’s no known or documented cause. Hypersomnia typically affects adolescents and young adults in their 20s and 30s. Although the most common causes of this disorder differs in the age brackets. Information can be located on the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Strokes website if you’re seeking a more thorough clinical explanation to this problem. This isn’t a substitute for medical advice from a licensed physician so it’s ideal to educate yourself, but leave the diagnosing and treatment to a doctor so that you condition can be monitored closely.People who are not seeing a doctor when they identify problems that are not normal for them to experience are misdiagnosing too many issues with sleep. Persons who are severely obese can also have a difficult time losing the weight because of the fact that lack of sleep can increase the body’s metabolic rate, which can trigger excessive hunger in those who are trying to lose weight. This is why so many people who are obese are eating more than they should because a lot of them sleep so much that they wake up wanting to eat when they should be sleeping like normal people do and not up at all hours of the night wanting to eat. This is why it’s harder for people who are obese to lose weight when they sleep too much and not training their body to rest instead of wanting to eat food.
